March 7, 1942 - Getting Hitched!
On this day in 1942, my dad and mom: Leonard (Joe) Barnes Main and Audrey Gertrude Grala got married. It was a small, quiet ceremony at the church across the street from Joe’s family home in Natick, Massachusetts. That’s where they prepared for the big event. It was actually a simple ceremony and dinner with the family.

Joe’s sisters helped Audrey get ready with hair and makeup. They made sure she had something blue – her dress. Something borrowed, also the dress. Something old, his mother’s pearls and something new, her white gloves. She looked gorgeous.

Meanwhile, the war is raging. The battles continue and Boston plans for a blackout test. The jury convicts 5 men and 1 woman of spying for the Nazis and they will spend a long time in prison. Knowing he's going towards this war has got to be worrisome to say the least. I hope he was able to really enjoy the time before draft day - April 1, 1942. That's when this thing will really get going. Stay tune :)
